Urban and Regional Planning

  1. Major Introduction and Description
    Yonsei University’s Urban and Regional Planning major in the Graduate School of Engineering fosters practical urban and regional planning experts who are expected to play leading roles in solving the various and complex problems that occur in urban, regional, and territorial settings by implementing convergence approaches in future research on urban planning, urban transportation, urban design, and urban environment. This program’s systematic yet flexible curriculum provides students with the opportunity to learn about the latest research and policy trends in related fields in urban planning, urban transportation, urban design, and urban environment. Specifically, this program focuses on enhancing capacities for policy analysis and evaluation, a skill that all urban and regional planning experts must have, and strengthening problem-solving capacities for the purpose of introducing new policies based on sound insight.

  2. Educational Goals
    Fostering technical professionals who can contribute to the development of the machine industry through specialized knowledge in mechanical engineering and multidisciplinary perspectives
    • Fostering practical professionals who can introduce new theories and policies in the field of urban, regional, and territorial planning
    • Promoting the development of integrated specialists in urban planning, urban transportation, urban design, and urban environment
    • Providing a curriculum that is differentiated from other graduate schools to produce practical professionals in the field of urban and regional planning
